WordPress – Updating Plugins

Video Tutorial

Script & Screenshots

In this video I’m going to show you how to update your plugins.

It’s important to keep all your plugins updated.  Usually if a developer updates their plugin, it’s either to add a new feature or fix a security breach.  Either way, it’s best to keep your site updated.

If a plugin needs updated, you’ll see a circle with a number next to the plugins menu.  Depending on how many plugins need updated, will determine what the number is.  You will also see a circle with arrows at the top of the page and a number next to it.  This number includes themes and WordPress updates as well.  You’ll also see the same circled arrows on the plugin that needs updated.

Even if a plugin is Deactivated like mine, I suggest you keep it updated.

If you have many plugins, and easy option to find all the updates available, click on the Updates Available option at the top of the page.

Now I see the only plugin that I need to update.

Another way to update plugins, click on the circled icon on the top toolbar.

You can click on the Select All box to select all the plugins.

Then you would click on the Update Plugins button.  I’m not going to click on it because I want to show you another way to update the plugin.

You can also click on Plugins on the admin left menu.

I’m going to update the plugin here by clicking on the Update Now link.

When it’s done updating, if it’s successful, it will have a green check mark and say Updated!

That’s it for this video.  I’ll see you in the next one.
