WordPress – Login to the Admin Dashboard

Video Tutorial

Script & Screenshots

In this video I’m going to show you how to log into your WordPress Backend so that you can start making changes to your website.

Your WordPress site has two sides to it.  The front end that the world sees on the internet and the password protected back end site where you can login and make changes that will show up on the front end site.

First go to your domain name to see what WordPress looks like right now.  In my case I’ll go to tutorials.goldeninternetmarketingllc.com forward slash blog.  It’s pretty generic right now.  It’s the Twenty Fourteen WordPress theme and a sample post and comment.

To start editing, the first step is to add /wp-admin/ at the end of your domain.  For instance, it should show up as:  yourdomain.com/wp-admin.

Click up in the address bar, then click at the end of your URL.

Add wp-admin to the end.  It requires one / before wp-admin.  It can also only have one afterwards, but it is not required.

Type in the username and password you created in the installation process.  If you can’t remember your password or you’re having issues logging in, click on Lost Your Password.

Type in your username or your email address and click on Get New Password button.  Then go to your email and look for the reset password email.  Click on the link to reset your password and enter a new one.  Hopefully your account is set to your email account.  If not, you’ll need to ask the user who’s email it is under to forward that email or reset the password for you.  If you can’t find it in your inbox, check your junk folder.

I do know my password so I’m going to click on Login to get back to the login page.

Type in your username.

Type in your password and click on the Log In button.

Checking Remember me should only be done on your own computer.  Never check that box on a public computer or someone else’s computer.

Once you’ve successfully logged in it will take you to the admin dashboard. I’ll show you how to edit your website in another video.

That’s it for this video.  I’ll see you in the next video.
