All In One Security – Blacklist Manager
Script & Screenshots
Here is where you can blacklist troublesome IP addresses and User Agents. I’m going to take the IP address from the IP we used on the WHO Is video since I know this address is a potential hacker.
To get here, click on WP Security, then Blacklist Manager.
There’s only the Ban Users tab. This feature gives you the option of banning certain host IP addresses or ranges and also user agents.
This feature will deny complete site access for who you have configured in the settings. This is achieved by making appropriate modifications to your .htaccess file. By blocking people via the .htaccess file, you’re using the most secure first line of defense, which denies all access to blacklisted visitors as soon as they hit your hosting server.
Before adding an IP address, I suggest checking the IP through the WHO Is tab first. It’s good to make sure it’s not your own or a customer. If it’s a foreigner, you are most likely ok to blacklist it, if you’re not targeting customers in that country.
You might also be interested in their Country Blocking Add-on. This is the easiest way to keep the foreign countries out from hacking your website. It will block all the IP addresses from the countries you choose to block. This add-on is currently $29.95. If you’d like to look into this, click on the link.
That’s it for this video. I’ll see you in the next one.
