Divi – Role Editor Portability
In this video I’m going to go through the Divi Role Editor. The Divi Role Editor gives you control over what each WordPress User Role can do within the Divi Builder. In this video I’m going to go through the options under Portability Settings.
To get to this editor, click on Divi on the left sidebar, then Role Editor.
At the top you’ll see all the different roles that you have within WordPress. I’m going to stay on the Administrator tab. You’ll also find these same settings on the other three tabs.
Here are your options for Portability. This feature was recently added. It’s now easy to backup, transfer, or share your Divi Library items, Customizer Settings, Theme Options, Roles, and and Builder items. This is a great way to backup your site in case of a disaster, to migrate it to another server, or to set up a new site with similar options.
The first option, Divi Customizer Settings will disable the ability to import and export from the Theme Customizer and the Module Customizer.
I’m now on the Theme Customizer page. If it’s enabled, you’ll see the two up and down arrows above the customizer settings.
When this option is disabled, you will no longer see the arrows above the customizer settings.
I’ll also show you the Module Customizer.
Here on the Module Customizer page, the same up and down arrows should appear where the red box is. But since I disable it, it’s not showing up.
The Divi Theme Options will disable the ability to export and import from the Theme Options.
If it was enabled on the Theme Options, you’d see the arrows on the purple builder bar on the right side.
When it’s disabled, the arrows will notice the arrows will be gone.
The Divi Role Editor Settings will allow you to disable exporting and importing from the Role Editor.
When enabled, the icon appears on the purple bar on the right.
When it’s disabled, the icon will disappear from the bar.
If you disable the Divi Builder Layout Portability, it will remove the option to export and import from the Divi Builder on pages and posts.
When it’s enabled, you’ll see the arrows on the purple bar on the right side.
When it’s disabled, the arrows will not show up on any post or pages in the Divi Builder.
The last of the options is to disable the Divi Builder Layouts. This is located on the Divi Library page. It will disable the option to export saved library layouts.
On the Divi Library page, you’ll see the Import and Export button near the top of the page if it’s enabled.
When it’s disabled, that button will disappear.
So depending on whether or not you want your employees to import and export, you might want to look at these settings and see if it’s in your best interest to disable anything to keep the settings protected.
That’s it for this video. I’ll see you in the next one.
